TruGanic™

TruGanic™ is a quality standard for sourcing and production that goes significantly beyond national and state organic standards. The TruGanic™ standard was created by Dr. Jameth Sheridan of HealthForce to verify absolute purity.

Organic Certification

“Organic” agriculture began in the early 1970s as a loosely defined grass roots style of agriculture that practiced natural methods of farming which saw the farm as an ecosystem, an ecosystem which must be lovingly cared for from a holistic point of view.  As a solution to the destructive farming practices that ensued after WWII, this syle of organic farming was free from involving the use of any chemical pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic chemicals of any kind, either during or after the growing process. Over the ensuing years, organically-grown and processed products became so popular that, in 1990, the U.S. Congress passed the Organic Foods Production Act to establish national standards governing the growing and marketing of foods labeled as “Organic.” The Act authorized a new USDA National Organic Program (NOP) to set national standards for the production, handling, and processing of organically-grown agricultural products. Producers and growers who meet standards set by the NOP may label their products as “USDA Certified Organic.” The USDA Consumer Brochure states:

Organic food is produced without using most conventional pesticides; fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge; bioengineering; or ionizing radiation…. Companies that handle…organic food before it gets to your local supermarket or restaurant must be certified, too.”

The USDA National Organics Standards Board (NOSB) now mandates annual inspections of the 30,000-plus certified organic farms and processing facilities around the world by USDA accredited certifying agents to ensure that they are following organic practices. As of January 1, 2013, certifiers must perform pesticide residue testing on a minimum of 5% of their certified operations. With current organic standards, organically-grown food may contain up to 5% of the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) tolerance for a given pesticide. As the 1995 NOSB definition of organics states:

“Organic agriculture practices cannot ensure that products are completely free of residues; however, methods are used to minimize pollution from air, soil and water.”

HealthForce TOTALLY resonates with the intentions of USDA organic and is grateful for all the diligence of those that have lobbied Congress to keep the standards strong. We are somewhat disappointed that the number of allowable non-organic compounds in organic foods seems to increase every year. We recognize that USDA certified organic is a step in the right direction, and we want to do better.

TruGanic™ Verification

TruGanic™ verifies its extremely thorough and uncompromising standard with mandatory laboratory testing.

All TruGanic™ products must pass periodic third-party laboratory tests to verify that they are:

  • 100% pesticide free defined as ZERO detectable
  • 100% GMO free defined as ZERO detectable
  • 100% irradiation free defined as ZERO detectable

TruGanic™ Sourcing

TruGanic™ sourcing is an endeavor to find the purest and most potent ingredients available with the smallest carbon footprint and the most eco-friendly growing practices as possible. We source locally for as many ingredients as possible. However, the complexity of our formulas involves sourcing from all over the world. All ingredients in TruGanic™ products are either certified organic, wildcrafted, or naturally grown, without pesticides/herbicides. These ingredients are “TruGanic™ validated” through third-party laboratory testing for pesticides, GMOs, and irradiation. We test for 292 different pesticides. Pesticides are a general classification for herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides.  Lab tests must show zero detectable levels of contaminants. After an initial “TruGanic™ validation” of our ingredients, continued compliance is verified through annual finished product testing. Over the years since we began our TruGanic™ program, we have discovered even certified organic ingredients do sometimes contain some levels of irradiation, GMO, pesticides, and other undesirable elements.

Verification as Determining Factor in Sourcing

HealthForce is committed to choosing raw materials with the highest levels of purity and beneficial nutrients. To achieve this goal, we use a combination of certified organic, wildcrafted, and naturally-grown materials. In some cases, we are able to source wildcrafted and/or naturally-grown materials that are not USDA Certified Organic but test 100% free of pesticides, herbicides, and GMOs and actually provide a HIGHER level of nutritional density and/or therapeutic potency than their certified organic counterparts. Since we are committed to the highest levels of purity and potency in our products, this commitment requires that we VERIFY the purity of an ingredient through actual testing and also that we “look outside the box” for ingredients with the greatest nutritional potency, as is often the case with wildcrafted vs. cultivated organic. Anything less we would consider unethical and a disservice to our loyal consumers who are looking for the cleanest and the best products possible.

TruGanic™ Production

The HealthForce production facility is NSF International certified and FDA cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) (21 CFR part 111) regulated and compliant. A pure, clean facility and high-quality production process is absolutely foundational to our philosophy and practice. TruGanic™ production standards represent our absolute commitment to not only fulfill FDA Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in manufacturing, packaging, and labeling our supplements but also to exceed them.

For example, the FDA cGMP standards allow the use of regular insecticides and other chemicals to control pests in the production environment as long as a log is filled out stating that the product was protected from being sprayed. But what about the air? What about the residue?

HealthForce adheres to an animal friendly Organic Compliant Pest Control Program. This Integrated Pest Management (IPM) technique brings a focus on inspection and removal of pest-friendly environments, eliminating food and harborage areas, and avoid the need for chemicals and glue traps.  We love and and have compassion for all types of life’s creatures.  We would never use chemicals. We constantly aspire to improve our production process and make our production facility “Best in the Industry” in order to match our “Best in the Industry” products.
